How do I set up NCS Digital Address Support?

Starting in version 2016.2, NCS added functionality to support purchases of digital product without a full address, so this document discusses the NCS Digital Address feature. NCS chose to implement the feature in such a way that you can configure the NCS system to indicate how much of the address is required; but NCS recommended that you capture at least user’s zip code in all cases. That recommendation is the basis for the implementation of the NCS Digital Address integration. 

When the NCS Digital Address is in use:

  • You must set up digital addresses on the NCS system so that they require a zip code and only a zip code,
  • In syncAccess, if a plan is configured to not require an address, a user must still enter a zip code

NCS Digital Address Support is available under the following conditions:

  • You are running syncAccess version 5.2.9.10 or newer
  • Your system is integrated with an NCS system running version 2016.2 or newer
  • Your system is configured to use the 5.0 purchase workflow

Contact your customer service representative if you are unsure if your system meets these conditions.

When those conditions are true, new Plan Address Configuration options become available. For systems configured in this way, a given plan’s billing address requirements and delivery address requirements are configured separately.

Plan Maintenance

Each plan that you want a user to be able to purchase without entering a full address must be appropriately configured in Admin Plan Maintenance.

Only plans with a Plan Type of Digital are supported by the NCS Digital Address integration.

A new Billing Address Required config setting appears if you select Digital plan type.

Checking the box means that the Purchase page will ask for a COMPETE BILLING ADDRESS (all address fields will be required). 

UN-check the box to get a ‘digital address’. If you uncheck the box, the purchase page will ONLY ask for Zip Code.

The NCS Digital Address is not supported for plans with a Plan Type of Print or Combo.  If you select one of those plan types, you will see two separate “address required” settings: Billing Address Required and Delivery Address Required.

Because our purchase workflow always requires a billing address for Print or Combo plan types, the Billing Address Required option is checked and it cannot be changed. You may use the Delivery Address Required option to select whether or not you want a separate delivery address to appear on the purchase page.

NCS Circulation Configuration

As mentioned above, integration with the NCS Digital Address feature REQUIRES that the NCS system be configured to support digital address, and you MUST configure those addresses to require a Zip Code and Only a Zip Code.  We do not support any other variations on Digital Address field requirements.  You must make the necessary NCS configuration changes before you will be able to use this feature.
